A St. Paul woman has been charged with two counts of second-degree DWI after trying to pick up her daughter from Monroe Elementary School with a .30 blood-alcohol content, nearly four times the legal limit.

Police said Tina Marie Ramírez, 44, came to the school at 810 Palace Avenue in St. Paul on Friday, June 24, to pick up her daughter from art camp.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman's 8-year-old son told the principal something was wrong with his mother – specifically that she was "too drunk or high to drive."

Police said the principal took the keys from Ramírez after the boy contacted him.

Police said the woman was visibly intoxicated, admitted to drinking half a pint of vodka, and then fell down after stepping out of her vehicle.

Officers said they were unable to perform a field sobriety test because Ramírez was "fall down" drunk. More than an hour later, a Breathalyzer determined her blood-alcohol content.

Police say she has no prior history of drunken driving convictions, but the current charges are aggravated because she tried to drive with her young children in the car.

Because we have no balls and refuse to make English our official language. I speak Spanish fluently but refuse to do so unless it involves an older person, sick person or kid. When I was in Spain I spoke Spanish, In Rome I spoke Italian. In America I ONLY speak English unless very necessary

Why not in Spanish? We cater to those who speak Spanish. Everywhere you look you see a sign in Spanish and then in English (notice how English speaking CITIZENS are considered second class by the English sign coming second) More people need to stand up and tell our wonderfull government (that is a joke right there) that the language that is spoken in the US is English and English only. Anyone entering the US MUST LEARN ENGLISH in a timely manner or will be deported back to their country for not complying to the laws of the US and will not be permitted back in the US until English is learned and can be spoken read and written correctly.

Perhaps those who made reference to the comments in Spanish did not notice that you had to click "Comenta aqui" (Comment here) to leave your message. I can only this this is the case since you then probably also did not notice that the article is listed in the AOL Noticias (AOL News). But then again I live in an area where people speak Spanish, Russian, several different dialects of Chineese as well as English . . .

As for this story . . . I don't know what people think when they get behind the wheel of a car after drinking much less with children.
